We are thrilled to announce that Westbourne School UK has been voted WINNER, Best School Digital Transformation in the prestigious Global EdTech Awards 2023.
Global EdTech is a network of educators and tech companies from all over the world, and their annual awards acknowledge cutting-edge progress in the field. Winning this award recognises our use of state-of-the-art technology to enhance and extend learning for all ages.
A state-of-the-art approach
Over the past few years, we have rapidly accelerated our use of tech to support students across the whole school. This includes everything from lessons being automatically recorded and shared to Google Classroom, allowing students to review what they have learnt, to interactive virtual classrooms connecting Westbourne students from our global schools.
We have worked to transform our deployment of educational technology to support our students and alleviate the workload our teachers face, whilst increasing the performance data we use for planning. Google Classroom allows teachers to share all of their materials with students; Forms give automated feedback; and Century provides AI-assisted feedback to give students 3 ‘frequencies’ of assessment feedback.
We use EdTech to share resources, time and expertise between teachers and students across the entire world with our sister schools.
We have classes equipped with primary and secondary displays, the secondary ones equipped with carefully positioned cameras to allow absent students to experience the classroom naturally, interacting and communicating as if they were in the room.
Supported by AI
One of the first schools in Wales to adopt AI technology, our students are enthralled by the power of technology, developing skills beyond their years.
AI has become an integral part of school life, elevating the student experience to a new, very exciting level that supports our pupils’ ability to excel.
Robotics are used at each key stage to aid computational thinking: Sphero at KS1 and 2, Sphero Bolt at KS3 and Fable for KS4 and 5. 3D Printing Labs develop advanced STEM skills, and through 3D modelling students make characters for games, 3D models of geographical features for Geography and mechanical parts for Physics.
With these applications we have seen extraordinary progress made by students, transforming outcomes for students wherever they are in the world.
