The challenge? Each House to nominate a charity with students selling baked goods over a Morning Recess. The House raising the most funds is declared the winning House, with all funds raised from the bake sale pooled together towards the winning house’s charity.
Who won the prize? Rize Up, brought to us by Green House
After a galliant effort by all, Green House won the inaugural House competition with up to $700 donated to Rize Up.
Rize Up is a charity that focuses primarily on providing women who have been experiencing domestic violence with their partners, affecting both the victim and often their children, with a safe and comforting environment that is anonymous to the domestic abuser. “Personally, what I enjoyed the most out of the Bake Sale morning was the heavy encouragement to donate by all members of every house. The spirit of competition was still alive, however the overall goal to raise as much money as possible was never forgotten,” said Zain, DP2.

Who else won? Cancer Council, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation and Red Cross Society.
Every effort in raising the awareness of worthy causes ultimately makes an imprint. Congratulations to all Houses for bringing attention to the following foundations.
House: Yellow
Nominated charity: Cancer Council
“This charity is dedicated to researching and developing treatment for UV cancer, which affects millions of people each year. In Australia particularly, it is incredibly popular, and therefore we thought it was quite a prevalent issue that we would like to put money toward. I enjoyed the teamwork in the bake sale, especially with Freddie, my house-mate, as we worked together to sell and price each item. I thought it was very nice to see all of the school working together and spending time together, donating money to a good cause and experiencing each other’s hard work through their baked goods,” said Amelie, DP2.
House: Blue
Nominated charity: Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation
“The Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation is a charity that rescues children from human trafficking and provides them with safety and education. Our favourite part of the bake sale was the set up, when the Collaboration Zone was buzzing with excitement as all the houses unveiled their delicious contributions,” said Siwa, DP2.
House: Red
Nominated charity: Red Cross Society
Red Cross Society is a leading humanitarian organisation, that strives on a daily basis to make a genuine difference in the lives of people and communities locally and globally.
“I was involved in recommending and actionising the House Bake Sale, and I believe that it was a great experience for all of my House members. I enjoyed seeing my fellow students display their initiative to plan, make, and sell delicious homemade food, and it was very pleasant to be among conscientious young people making a difference,” said Aidan.

The 2025 Bake Sale is an impressive display of the leadership by the DP2 cohort with great consideration for the wider community, a morning that instilled the ethos behind the IB Diploma’s core element, CAS (Creativity, Activity, and Service).
