When brainstorming what would allow us to fundraise the most money, we proposed charging students to pie the most controversial characters of Westbourne with whipped cream.
Despite being a fun lunchtime event, we raised $1,600 for the Red Cross Türkiye-Syria Earthquakes Appeal—a big shoutout to the students who sacrificed their pretty faces and hairdos for the cause. Thank you to all the students who got involved and donated; it brought the Westbourne community together in a fun and charitable activity.
The money raised supports the Red Cross and Red Crescent partners in providing:
- emergency relief assistance such as search and rescue and first aid services, health, shelter and non-food items.
- specialist aid workers to assist local teams to respond to the crisis.
- help people to restore contact with family members separated by the earthquake by offering services to maintain family links and locate missing family members.
- monitoring and evaluation of the operation.
