Friendships forged across continents as Sydney Year 11 students spent 10 days in the overseas excursion to Westbourne School UK, 2024. This excursion began in London with everyone seeing where the IB Diploma Programme can take them upon graduating. Mixed in with cultural experiences like attending theatre and musicals, students toured universities including Imperial College London, University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. True to tradition, there was close rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge within this cohort but eventually, it was Cambridge that stole the heart of our STEM students.
The excursion continued with Sydney students attending Westbourne School UK and learning from the esteemed STEM teachers within the Westbourne International network. Together with the Year 11 students from the UK, they completed the Diploma Programme 1 science project in teams. Their collaboration with UK students extended to the INSEAD workshop led again by INSEAD professor Adrian Johnson.
